What is the Academic Honors Convocation? A student-centered event, the Convocation is a formal event similar in nature to Commencement and honors students and faculty for excellent performances. President Smith describes it thus, "This Academic Honors Convocation is a wonderful tradition highlighting the academic achievements of our students and faculty. This Convocation provides us with the opportunity to honor students who sustain a high level of academic accomplishment. All of the students being honored this afternoon have a special sense of purpose to accomplish their personal and professional goals" (2005). When and where is the Convocation held? The Convocaton is held in the Morrow Field House on the first Sunday of April, unless a holiday interferes. Why is the Convocation held on a Sunday? (formerly held Wednesday) Sunday was chosen for the convenience of parents, relatives, and other guests who may be otherwise occupied on a weeknight or are unable to travel during the week. Where is the Field House? Where are the designated parking lots? Campus Map West Lake Parking is located to the right of #36 on the map. East Lake Parking is located left of #53. What Awards are presented?
