The Slippery Rock University WFR course will be conducted in the ARC, ski lodge, and outdoor areas around Slippery Rock. The course cost will be $450 dollars for ARC affiliates and $550 for non-affiliates. This will cover SOLO certification, all course materials, and text.  You are responsible for your own food, lodging, and travel. You must register for the course and make all payments in room 117 of the ARC.  It is important that you bring to the course the entire list of gear that is provided below.

The Wilderness First Responder with WEMT is offered through Slippery Rock University Office of Campus Recreation.  This is a certifying course.  The registration fee includes all course material and certification card, which is good for 2 years.  This course is scenario based and highly hands on.  We will meet at the SRU ski lodge at 8:00 a.m. each day and will have some late night scenarios.  Please be prepared to go outside in any kind of weather.  The following list is to supplement the clothes that you will be wearing and is to be considered a minimum.  You should plan to wear or have with you clothing that will be appropriate to the season and location where you will be taking your course.  Weather permitting; we will be spending a significant portion of the class time out-of-doors.  You are free to supplement the list with anything else you would normally carry.  You will be using your equipment to provide care, build splints and keep yourself and others warm.

REQUIRED – The following items should be packed for each class
Raingear top and bottom (no ponchos)
2 warm hats (synthetic* or wool)
Long Underwear - Tops and Bottoms (synthetic* or wool)
Warm top and bottom layer (synthetic* or wool)
1 pair of warm gloves or mittens (synthetic* or wool)
2 pairs of warm socks (synthetic* or wool)
1 gear pack or duffle bag (preferably 2500 cu or larger)
2 water bottles – 1 liter or larger
1 pair hiking boots or sturdy shoes
Notebook with pen/pencil
