Teen ARC Memberships 
Teen ARC Memberships are available to teenagers, ages 16 and 17. Teen ARC members can use the facility during teen hours (listed in the right-hand column ) without the accompaniment of a parent or guardian. A parent/guardian must accompany the teen to purchase an ARC Teen Membership. At the time of membership purchase, a driver's license or birth certificate to confirm teen's age, parental sign off on the medical history/waiver form. Teens are not eligible to purchase guest passes for other teens or youth.
Youth ARC Access
The youth of ARC Members up to age 15 are provided a complimentary ARC Kid's Card providing them FREE access to the ARC. To access the ARC, youth must have their parents present with them in the ARC, present their Kid's Card and follow the established ARC policies and procedures. Youth are classified as guests when their parent/guardian is not an ARC
member. All guests must pay the $5.00 daily guest pass fee.
Parental Responsibilities
Sign off on the medical history/waiver form for the youth.
Must be in the building for youth 10-15 years of age.
Must directly supervise Youth age 9 and younger at all times within the facility.
Ensure youth follow established ARC policies and procedures.
Minimum age to use the Fitness Center is age 16.
Client must present picture ID to purchase membership.
• Picture documentation confirming age is required. (Driver’s license, etc.)
• Memberships not transferable, refundable or prorated for vacations.
• Membership privilege: ARC member may purchase four one-day passes daily at $3.00 each, purchase of over four one-day guest passes available at $5.00 each.
• Kid’s Card issued for dependent children only - up to age 15
• Payroll Deduction–Available to SRU employees only.
• Purchase Location–Campus Recreation Office, Room 117 ARC
Memberships are sold:
Monday–Friday - 8 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Saturday–9 a.m. to Noon
Sunday-Noon to 4 p.m.
Please Note: Facilities and services available on a regular basis; however may be discontinued for a given period of time because of directives from the University, i.e. major maintenance projects or other unforeseen circumstances. Memberships are not prorated because of these events.
ARC Daily Guest Passes... Try it - you’ll like it!
• Initial Guest Pass must be purchased at the Campus Recreation Office. Subsequent 1-Day Guest Passes can be purchased at the Welcome Center.
• Photo ID/Drivers License is REQUIRED for all purchase. Proof of age required.
• Must be 18 or older to purchase pass.
• Parent/adult guardian MUST accompany/sign for youth 15 and younger or teen ages 16/17 passes, including day passes. Adult must remain in the ARC with youth under age 16.
• Day pass valid for date of purchase only; NOT transferable; must present receipt and picture ID for reentry.
I.D.’s Please
SRU students (SRU ID) and ARC Members (ARC Key-tag, including Kid’s Cards), must present their ID at each ARC visit. Please note: SRU students or patrons without proper ID will not be admitted. ID is required to purchase memberships and passes.
Medical History Forms
Prior to initiating participation, a waiver form must be completed when purchasing a membership. Daily waiver must be signed for guest passes.
Transportation / Parking
Located on lower campus, the ARC has ample and convenient parking available at East Lake Parking lot. Slippery Rock University’s public transportation, the “Happy Bus,” also transports SRU students to the ARC on regular daily routes.
Parking pass is required for ALL lots on campus. Parking pass is included with ARC Community memberships for duration of membership.
Fitness Perk Programs
The Russell Wright Fitness Center (RWFC) Team is comprised of one professional staff member and multiple exercise specialists (upper-class exercise science majors) who are prepared to assist all students and patrons in enhancing their exercise programs and improving the fitness levels. Please ask a member of the RWFC Team member on duty to assist you in any fitness program.
Fitness Assessments
Resting HR, Resting BP, Body Composition (% body fat, lean mass to fat mass comparisons), Flexibility, Muscular Strength, Muscular Endurance, and Cardiovascular Fitness. Progressive assessments are conducted year around and are a great way to begin a program. The exerciser can compare their data with norm charts and their fitness progress.
Equipment Orientations
Fitness Center orientations include instruction on how to correctly and safely operate cardiovascular, electrolyzed, plate loaded and free weight equipment. Other topics that will be covered include proper seat adjustment, movement speed, posture, breathing and muscle group isolation.
Exercise Programming
The RWFC Team is trained to assist members in development of individualized fitness programs. Exercise programs include guidelines for aerobic, muscular fitness and flexibility activities based upon individual goals.
Group Exercise Classes
Most of the classes are geared toward aerobic dance and are taught by nationally certified instructors. The classes are held Monday through Thursdays during the academic year and typically include High/Low, Hip-Hop, Funk, Aero Box, Step and Fit Yoga. Step classes are limited to 33 participants. A complete schedule of classes will be printed and available at the start of each semester.
Climbing Wall
Students and patrons can climb the ROCK Wall during regular hours of operation. Climbing wall supervisors offer a 'hands on" clinic on basic rock climbing skills.
Kayak Roll Clinics:
Kayak roll clinics are offered throughout the academic year in the aquatic center.
