Student Employee Handbook

Campus Recreation Student Employee Team members must be willing to meet the following expectations in order to be hired and retained by the Office of Campus Recreation:
A. Involvement in the successful and professional operation of the ARC

B. Competency
• Knowledgeable of:
* Job responsibilities
* Accident and incident procedures
* ARC operations, policies and procedures
* Program parameters
* Event scheduling
• Maintain current CPR certification
• Arrive at work promptly and prepared to work
• Initiate communications and disperse only accurate information
• Take the initiative to complete additional tasks
• Continuously improve performance
• Wear professional attire

C. Dedicated and Reliable
• Committed to work schedule and provide quality performance
• Work independently
• Perform work consistently and professionally
• Secure a substitute for all absences or tardiness
• Perform procedures for opening, supervising and securing facilities
• Complete all assigned tasks
• Attend all Campus Recreation Student Employee team meetings

D. Professional Conduct
• Act in a professional and tactful manner
• Assertively administer policies and procedures and assist with care and cleanliness of the ARC
• Consistently develop good public relations
• Use appropriate telephone etiquette
• Cell phone use is based on the policy of the specific work area
• Consuming food is based on the policy of the specific work area

E. Safety Conscious
• Take precautionary measures to prevent accidents
• Prepare to implement accident and incident procedures

F. Provide Quality Customer Service
• Quality customer service can be largely accomplished by meeting items A-D

G. When on duty, refrain from the following behaviors:
• Recreating
• Socializing
• Consuming food and beverages
• Making personal phone calls
• Switching assigned work areas
• Leaving the workstation unless there has been an accident
• Putting their feet up on the desk or chair
• Academic or recreational use of computers
• Consuming or under the influence of drugs, alcohol and/or tobacco products
• Sexual harassment (Refer to SRU Code of Conduct)
• Profanity
Confirmation that the student employee agrees to these expectations is to sign off on the expectation form provided by their immediate supervisor.
