The Women's Rugby Club won the Midwest Championship for the second consecutive year this past weekend in Iowa Falls, Iowa. On Saturday, they defeated Ball State University by a score of 46-0. The team came back on Sunday to defeat Winona State in a close match 27-24. This was the first time the team had been scored upon the entire season. All of the 17 women who traveled to Iowa Falls played during the weekend. To qualify for the Midwest Championship, the team won their fifth consecutive Allegheny Ruby Union championship earlier in the season. The team will complete in the nationals during the spring semester.

First Aid Certification Opportunities: Campus Recreation will be conducting two American Red Cross First Aid Certification classes the week of November 16. The first of the two classes will be conducted on Monday evening from 7-10 p.m. in the RPM Room. The second class is scheduled for Saturday, November 21 from 9 a.m.-Noon. Pre registration is required. The fee is $40 for students/ARC members and $50 for non ARC members.

Climbing For Kids: The Saturday, November 21st program teaches youth the basic skills of rock climbing and knot tying. This event is for experienced climbers or beginners who have an interest in and want to learn more about climbing. All equipment is provided by SRU Outdoor Adventures including harnesses, carabineers, belay devices, and shoes. The required pre registration can be completed in the Campus Recreation office, ARC 117.

Indoor Bike Ride Series: The first of two fall semester Indoor Bike Rides will be conducted on Friday, November 20 from 5-10 p.m. in the RPM Room. Cycling videos are projected on the wall with surround music playing and each participant rides the distance they choose. Each event ends with a potluck dinner. The event is free to ARC Members and cost $5.00 for a Non ARC Member.

Cycle Aerobics: A sign that winter is not far off is the start of the Cycle Aerobics program is scheduled for Monday, October 26. This program provides the opportunity for cycling enthusiasts to pursue their interest during the winter months with Cycle Aerobics, Indoor Bike Race Series and Indoor Bike Ride Series. Participants bring their own bikes to the recreation center and attach them to a Cat Eye CS-1000 and begin pedaling. Limited number of Cat Eye CS-1000 and loaner bikes available.
