Transfer Policies
- SRU does not limit the number of
credits a student may transfer to the University; however,
students must complete all Graduation Requirements.
- SRU will consider all
non-developmental transfer credits for which a letter grade of
"C" or greater was earned.
- For students who have earned an
associate degree from a Pennsylvania community college, SRU will
consider all non-developmental transfer credits for which a
letter grade of "D" or greater was earned.
- For students who have attended
another Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education
institution, SRU will consider all non-developmental transfer
credits for which a letter grade of "D" was earned, if the
student has earned a QPA of 2.0 or higher at all institutions
he/she has attended.
- Transfer students who apply for
admission as Education majors must have earned a cumulative QPA
of 2.8 or higher to receive a regular offer of admission to
SRU. Applicants who fall below this cumulative QPA requirement
may be offered "Major Conditional" admission to the University.
Major Conditional students are required to enroll as
"Exploratory/Undecided Education majors", and are initially
academically advised by the general Advisement Center and not by
the academic department. After the Major Conditional student
has earned 12 credits or more with a QPA of 2.8 or higher,
he/she may declare an Education academic major and will be
eligible to apply to the College of Education.
- SRU converts Quarter Hour
credits to Semester Hour credits by multiplying the Quarter
Hours by .666. Resulting credit hours valued as a fraction or
percentage, 2.33, 2.5, etc., may be used to meet requirements,
however, students must still earn a total of 48 credits of
Liberal Studies.
- Students may be exempted from
ENGL 101 – College Writing I or ENGL 103 – College Writing II,
if they transfer 63 or more credits. Students may be exempted
from COMM 200 – Public Speaking, if they transfer 63 or more
credits and have earned a cum QPA of 2.5 or greater. Students
exempted from any LS category must still earn a total of 48
credits of Liberal Studies.
