| Goals of
WPTAC |

The goals of the Western Pennsylvania
Transfer Advisory Council are as follows:
- Provide a structure
through which the needs of the community college transfer
students can be clearly identified and articulated.
a.
representatives from community colleges and state universities
attend regularly scheduled meetings at campus sites on a
rotation basis
b. meetings serve as a forum through which problems
related to the transfer process can be discussed and solutions
explored
- Function as a network
through which information can be exchanged between Pennsylvania
community colleges and the state universities.
a.
have appropriate administrators from host institutions speak at
regularly scheduled meetings
b. sponsor regional meetings to include administrators
and staff from member institutions for information sharing
- Be advocates for the
enhancement and maintenance of a comprehensive transfer and
articulation process which effectively addresses the needs of
transfer students.
a.
continually review and evaluate the process through which
students transfer from community colleges to senior institutions
b. develop guidelines and standards through which the
quality and effectiveness of a transfer information system can
be evaluated
c. review and recommend revisions to Academic Passport
and PATS and the terminology used in their marketing and
implementation
- Be recognized by our
institutional administrators, the State Articulation Council,
and the Pennsylvania Department of Education as a valuable
resource in their decision-making and policy development.
a.
serve as a liaison between the actual transfer process and the
State Articulation Council
b. send a copy of these goals and objectives to each
member institution's president and chief academic administrator
c. collaborate with the State Articulation Council and
the State Department of Education to identify ways in which the
three organizations can work together to effectively meet each
other's respective goals
d. provide specific information that identifies issues
that either hinder or facilitate the transfer process
