Verification. Any student whose FAFSA was
selected for verification by the federal processor must provide
additional documentation to the SRU Financial Aid Office.
These students will be sent a verification form by the SRU
Financial Aid Office to complete. In addition, these students
and their parents will be required to submit signed copies of their
2006 federal income tax returns to the SRU Financial Aid
Office.
Estimate Award Letters. The SRU Financial Aid
Office will begin to mail "estimate" award letters to new freshmen
who completed the 2007-08 FAFSA. The estimate will provide
information about the sources and amounts of financial aid the
student may be eligible for along with an estimate of 2007-08
costs.

be received by the federal processor by May 1st for state grant

Beginning late May |
Students with a processed 2007-08 FAFSA will begin to receive an
official award letter from the SRU Financial Aid
Office. The award letter will list the types and amounts
of financial aid (including grants, loans, scholarships and
employment) available to the student in 2007-08. (Note,
students who are selected for verification cannot receive their
official award letter until they have completed the
verification process.
The award letter mailing also includes a brochure titled "Understanding
Your Award Letter" that details estimated costs.
Families can use this brochure to help estimate any out-of-pocket
expenses that may be required.

|
Beginning late May |
Parents apply for a Federal Parent Loan for
Undergraduate Students (PLUS) if they wish to borrow a
parent loan to assist with any college expenses that are not

to borrow additional Stafford Loan funds and should contact the SRU
Financial Aid Office for guidance.

Students who will borrow through the Federal Stafford Loan
program for the first time must complete both:
- Federal Stafford Entrance
Loan Counseling and
- Federal Stafford Loan Master
Promissory Note (MPN)
Please note that no loan funds can be received by the student
unless the student completes both the loan counseling and the
Master Promissory Note.

Beginning early June |
Students notify the SRU Financial Aid Office of any scholarships
