The purpose of Dance Express is to provide half-time entertainment at both men's and women's basketball games. Dance Express also performs at many other events, i.e. pep rallies and wrestling matches.

SRUDT serves the university and community by providing dance as a performing art in a variety of genres, and offers all SRU students the opportunity to participate in dance workshops and technique classes, attend professional master classes and choreograph and/or perform in SRUDT productions.

This is group helps establish a meeting place for percussionist, where music can be played and discussed. The organization also aims to provide a forum where member can become more aware of percussion events and activities around the United States.

Sigma Rho Delta Dance Honorary exists to offer service to the department, the university, and the community; to promote cooperation in the department and to promote interest in the dance community; to further dance education by bringing in guest teachers, choreographers, and speakers for workshops, seminars, and lectures; to promote dance in other schools as much as possible; to promote unity within the department both between students, faculty, and other departments; and to keep students informed of cultural events.

Vocal organizations consisting of men and women, chosen by audition, which perform choral literature from the Renaissance to the present. This organization provides an opportunity for artistic growth and aesthetic expression through the vocal arts.

The Slippery Rock University Jazz Ensemble is the music department's premiere performing big band. The ensemble performs jazz literature from all eras of jazz history including big band, bop, hard bop, fusion and contemporary. Performance of this challenging chamber jazz literature requires serious and tedious rehearsal, which results in very exciting and fulfilling performance experiences. This ensemble often performs with guest artists of national and international stature.
