Summer 2008 Outdoor Adventure Programs & Camps

 
Summer Program Schedule
Registration Deadline – 7:00 p.m. Thursday prior to class start date unless otherwise noted. 
Payment required at time of registration. 

 

American Canoe Association Swift Water Rescue Course
millACA Swift Water Rescue Certificate of participation will be awarded upon successful completion of the class.  Course will be taught by ACA Certified instructors Steve Roberts from Slippery Rock University, and Dave Altman-TRPC Safety Chairman.
Session:  Pre-Summer
Age: 18 and older
Days:  Sat/ Sun    
Dates:  May 17 & 18
Time:  8:30 a.m.– 5:30 p.m.
Fees: ARC Member - $50     Non-ARC Member - $80  
Whitewater Rescue Manual Text book required - $15
Includes: All instruction, equipment, transportation and participation card.
Prerequisites: Must have good boat control, whitewater ferries, peel outs, and eddy turns in class 2/ 3 water.

Sea Kayak Adventure to Lake Erie
We meet Friday and travel to camp on the shores of Lake Erie. Saturday we paddle sea kayaks on Lake Erie camping overnight again and Sunday we end our trip at Presque Isle State Park.
Session:  2
Age: 14 and older
Days: Fri evening/ Sat/ Sun
Dates:  June 20, 21 & 22
Times: 5 p.m. Friday night - 5 p.m. Sunday
Fees: ARC member - $100.00    Non-ARC member - $140.00
Includes: All instruction, boating equipment, and transportation
You provide: Food, clothing and camping equipment.
Prerequisites:  Strong swimming skills
Location:  Meet at ARC
Minimum Registration:  4         Maximum Registration:  12

Kids Morning Adventure Camp
Includes: Camp activities, wall climbing, kayaking, swimming, games, snacks and cookout party.
Session:  2
Age: 8 to 13 years old
Days: M/T/W     
Dates:  June 23, 24 & 25
Time: 8 a.m. – Noon daily
Drop-Off: SRU ARC Lobby
Pick-Up: SRU ARC Lobby
Fee:  ARC Member - $50           Non-ARC Member - $65
Includes: Camp activities, wall climbing, kayaking, swimming, games, snacks, T-shirt and cookout party.
Minimum Registration:  8         Maximum Registration:  20

Youth Outdoor Adventure / Environmental Education Camp
Indoor and outdoor rock climbing, caving, canoeing, kayaking in the pool, ropes course experience, environmental education and a visit to the Robert A. Macoskey Center for Sustainable Systems Education and Research.
Session:  2
Ages: 12 to 18 years old
Days:  M/T/W/Th
Dates:  June 30 and July 1, 2 & 3
Camper Drop-Off: 8 a.m. each day
Camper Pick-up: 4 p.m.
Fee: ARC Member - $100           Non-ARC Member - $140
Includes:  T-shirt, transportation, equipment, and instruction.    
You provide:  Camper’s lunch daily.
Location: ARC TV lobby
Minimum Registration:  8         Maximum Registration:  20

White Water Kayak Camp
American Canoe Association Basic River kayaking course. Participants will receive an ACA participant card upon successful completion of the class. Participant must provide lunch daily. Snack provided.
Session: 3
Ages: 14 and older - Adult required to accompany/participate with youth under age 18
Days: M/T/W/Th
Dates: July 14, 15, 16 & 17
Times: 8 a.m. until 4 p.m. (daily)
Fees: ARC Member: $100 Non-ARC Members: $140
Includes: All instruction, equipment, transportation, t-shirt and participation card.
You provide: Participant must provide lunch daily.
Experience needed: NONE
Location: Meet in ARC Lobby
Minimum Registration: 8 Maximum Registration: 15

Youth Caving Adventure Trip – Casparis Caves
Join us for an exciting day of caving. This cave has many exciting features including crawls, decoration, water course and water fall.
Ages: 12 and older
Day: W
Date: June 18
Time: 8 a.m. until 5 p.m.
Fees: ARC Member - $20 Non-ARC Members - $40
Includes: All instruction, equipment, and transportation.
You provide: Participant must provide own lunch. Bring Money for your drink/snack on way home.
Experience needed: NONE
Location: Meet in ARC Lobby
Minimum Registration: 8 Maximum Registration: 12
