ARTICLE I: NAME AND AFFILIATIONS
The name of the organization shall be Outing Club.
ARTICLE II: OBJECTIVES AND PURPOSE
The purpose of the club shall be to provide members with an opportunity to get off of campus and engage themselves in activities that can not be experienced on campus.
ARTICLE III: MEMBERSHIP
Membership is open to all SRU students. Faculty and Staff may be members, however all voting and executive board members must be SRU students. Also, all students must maintain a minimum 2.0 GPA to participate in any club activity.
ARTICLE IV: OFFICERS
Section 1
President, Vice-President, Secretary, Treasurer
Section 2
President: preside over all meetings, set agendas for meetings, vote in meetings to break ties, serve as the club’s official representative and submits all appropriate club paperwork.
Section 3
Vice-President: assume the duties of the President in his/her absence, and to carry out any other duties given.
Section 4
Secretary: take minutes of the meetings, maintain current attendance records, maintain a schedule of events and be the official record keeper for the club.
Section 5
Treasurer: be responsible for recording /monitoring all club funds, present a financial report at each meeting and work with the faculty advisor in all book-keeping issues.
ARTICLE V: FACULTY ADVISOR
The faculty advisor for the club shall be Mr. Steven Roberts, who is the Coordinator of Outdoor Adventures and Club Sports and can be reached at 724-738-2883.
ARTICLE VI: AMENDMENTS
The club constitution may be amended if necessary. A 2/3 vote of all members is required to approve amendments.
ARTICLE VII: RATIFICATION
For the club constitution to be ratified, there will be a required 2/3 vote of all members.
By-Laws
Section 1: Membership
All members have full rights to participate in any club activity unless stated otherwise by the advisor. Members will be expelled from the club if found in violation of any SRU policy. Any officer may resign at any given time and a replacement officer will be voted in with a 2/3 vote from the membership.
Section 2: Fees
The club will not have any annual dues. Members are responsible to pay for their own expenditures.
Section 3: Elections
Nominations for new officers will take place annually, in the month of April and will be conducted by the use of the ballot system. No member can remain in the same seat of office for more than two consecutive years.
Section 4: Meetings
Meetings will be held weekly. The time and place will be determined at the beginning of each semester based on member’s schedules.
Section 5: Quorum
There must be 2/3 of all club members present to constitute a quorum.
Section 6: Amendment of the By-Laws.
The club by-laws may be amended by a 2/3 vote of all club members.
