Intramural Sprots Officials

Section 8: MISCELLANEOUS

PROTESTS:
VERBAL ON SITE PROTEST:
Protests may be made on eligibility and rule interpretation; never on a judgment call by officials.
Only the Team Captain or designated game captain may file a protest.
Rule and procedure protests must be filed at the time of the incident and before play resumes.
The on-site supervisor will first attempt to handle the protest. If this ruling is not satisfactory to the Team Captain, a written protest can be filed immediately after the activity with the Intramural on-site supervisor.
If the protesting team wins the contest, the protest is automatically withdrawn.
WRITTEN PROTEST:
Must be presented to the Intramural Coordinator within 24 hours after the event.
All protests will be given to the Intramural Coordinator for a ruling.
Protest forms will be available at every contest.

FORFEITS: GAME TIME IS FORFEIT TIME. The team that is present and prepared to play can choose to wait on the other team to play the game. However, the clock will be started until the other team is ready or 5 minutes have gone by, at which time the supervisor will call the game. If neither team shows up a double forfeit will be declared. A rating of “0” will be given to any team declaring a forfeit.

EQUIPMENT: Game balls will be provided for each activity. All equipment that is approved for the Slippery Rock University Intramural Program shall be in accordance with the established rules of each respective sport. These established Intramural Rules may supersede the governing body rules of each respective sport.

SAFETY: The use of protective equipment is strongly encouraged during all IM activities (i.e. mouth-guards, eye protections, helmets, faceguards, shin-guards, etc.)
DAMAGE: Participants using Intramural equipment will be held financially accountable for any damage, not to be considered normal wear and tear, to that equipment.

FOOTWEAR: Appropriate footwear must be worn at all times during intramural sports activities. Pliable rubber cleats are acceptable for outdoor field events. No metal cleats or screw on type cleats are permitted.

JEWELRY OR HATS: No jewelry or hats are to be worn at any time by participants in an intramural activity. All participants are expected to remove these articles prior to the start of any contest.

CANCELATIONS and POSTPONEMENTS: If at any time any Intramural facility becomes unplayable or unsafe, the Intramural Staff on site will make a determination regarding postponement or cancellation. The decision to re-schedule any postponed or cancelled activity is at the sole discretion of the Intramural Sports Coordinator.

Our Intramural Sports Officials do their best in officiating Intramural Sports, many are certified, but none are professionals. We are always looking for new officiating talent. If interested inquire at the Intramural Sports Office located in the ARC. Return to IM Handbook page.
