Intramural Sports Note

Section 3: PROGRAMS AND ORGANIZATION
Intramural sports are one of the most popular extracurricular activities on campus, providing students many opportunities for participation. Programs are offered by session. Men’s and Women’s divisions are available for all programs. Co-Rec divisions are available for specified programs. When possible, leagues will be organized into divisions of six teams playing a single round robin format. The minimum number of teams needed to run a league or event is 4 teams.

SKILLS AND DIVISIONS: When the demand warrants, the Intramural Program offers three skill levels of competition: competitive, intermediate, and recreational. Each player or team is encouraged to select the level that is best suited to his or her skill and interest. The Intramural Office reserves the right to place teams in appropriate skill level ranges.
Divisions include Men’s, Women’s, and Co-Rec, for many of the Intramural programs offered. Fees and awards vary based on league skill level.

Entry Fees:
Competitive league fees: $35.00
Intermediate league fees: $25.00
Recreational league fees: $15.00.

PLAYOFF STRUCTURE:
Four Team Divisions: The top two (2) teams will advance to the playoffs if their sportsmanship rating is acceptable.

Five Team Divisions: The top three (3) teams will advance to the playoffs if their
sportsmanship rating is acceptable.

Six Team Divisions: The top 3 or 4 teams will advance to the playoffs if their
sportsmanship rating is acceptable.

PLAYOFF ELIGIBILITY: There is a point system in place to help determine playoff eligibility.
Teams will earn points based on their record. A win will be worth 2 points, a tie will be worth 1 point, and a loss will be worth 0 points. The top scoring teams will advance to the playoffs. Only players listed on the teams’ original roster are permitted to participate in the playoffs. All teams must have played in 50% of their games to be eligible for the playoffs. All teams must have a SPORTMANSHIP RATING of 5 or above to participate in the playoffs.

TIEBREAKERS:
A. Two-way Tie: The winner of the head-to-head competition during regular season play will determine which team will advance to the playoffs. If a tie stills exists; the three-way tie criteria will be followed.
B. Three-way or more Tie: The team that will advance to the playoffs will be determined by the following criteria.
1) Head to Head results
2) Points given up
3) Most points scored
4) Sportsmanship ratings
