Safety Note

Section 2: HEALTH AND SAFETY
The possibility of injury exists in all sports-related activities. Slippery Rock University, the Office of Campus Recreation, Intramural Sports Program, or agents thereof will not assume any responsibility for injuries or damage to personal property resulting from participation in the Slippery Rock University Intramural Sports Program. PARTICIPATION in an intramural activity is at the individual’s own risk. All individuals participating in the Slippery Rock University Intramural Program must sign the Roster Waiver and Game Waiver before participating in any intramural activity. There are NO EXCEPTIONS to this rule.

Accident or Injury: All injuries should immediately be reported to the on-site intramural sports staff. The staff member will assess and take appropriate action. In case of an emergency or if transportation is required University Police will be called immediately.

Insurance: The Department of Campus Recreation does not provide individual insurance coverage. Participants must provide their own adequate individual health and accident insurance.

Cancellation of Events: The health and safety of all participants is our highest priority. The Intramural Office reserves the right to halt or cancel any activity, if the well-being of one or more participants is at risk.

Alcohol Use: Alcohol is not permitted on, or in, any Slippery Rock University Recreational facility. Participants and/or spectators that bring any alcohol or play under the influence of alcohol may be subject to penalty at the discretion of the Intramural Sports Office. Violations of the alcohol policy will also be reported to the Office of Student Standards.

Blood Policy: If and when an Intramural Sports staff member or official observes that a
participant is bleeding, has an open wound, or has blood on his or her clothing, the
individual will be directed to leave the game. The injured player shall not return, until the
bleeding has stopped, the open wound covered, and the article of clothing with blood on
it changed.

Inclement Weather: The possibility of Intramural Activities being cancelled due to
weather always exists. In the event of inclement weather, the IM Office will cancel all
events, as soon as possible. Team captains will be notified by e-mail or phone.
