Archery Club Constitution

Article I: Name and AffiliationArchery
The name of the club shall be SRU Archery. This club will be affiliated with the National Archery Association (NAA).

Article II: Objective
The purpose of the organization is to develop an understanding of the sport of archery and to provide an opportunity to grow both as an archer and an individual.

Article III: Membership
Membership to the club is open to students only. The student can choose how involved they want to be by being either a general member or a member who will compete in competitions.

Section 1:
For general membership into the club SRU students must be full or part time. This membership is for students who do not want to compete at the collegiate level but who want to be part of the club.

Section 2:
For general membership and NAA membership SRU students must be full time and in good standing. This membership is so that the student will be able to compete in local, regional and national competitions at the collegiate level.

Section 3:
For the first and/or second year of the club, only people who have their own equipment will be able to be members. Once the club has fundraised and obtained enough money to buy proper archery equipment, students who wish to shoot but don’t have their own equipment will be able to join.

Article IV: Officers
Section 1:
President: The president will preside over meetings that will be held, set the agendas for meetings, appoint committees, vote to break ties in voting and serve as the official representative for the club.

Section 2:
Vice-President: The vice-president is responsible for taking over for the president in his/her absence.

Section 3:
Secretary: The secretary will take minutes on the meetings, send a copy of the minutes out to the group, and maintain current records on attendance and schedule of events.

Section 4:
Treasurer: The treasurer will be responsible for handling the club’s funds and financial situations.

Section 5:
If for some reason a leader will need to be replaced, nominations and a vote will take place to fill the position. Those who will be nominated must be a member of the club for at least one year and be in good standing with the university.

Article V: Advisor
The advisor of the club must be a full time staff/faculty member. He/she must aid the club in decisions and will approve of all financial decisions.

Article VI
Amendment 1: Meetings
Meetings will be held 9 times during the semester and 7 of the 9 meetings will be
required. Members will be required to turn in 1 score card for every week of the semester during the meeting so there will be a total of 15 score cards at the end of the semester for each member.

Article VII: Amendments
This constitution may be amended by a 2/3 majority vote. The amendment will have to be presented to the club at a meeting and the group will vote after discussion of the presented amendment.

Article VIII: Ratification
The constitution may be ratified by a 2/3 majority vote.
